At Friends of Amani UK's most recent board meeting, we were delighted to welcome two new trustees to the team. Cathy and Stephen Bartlam from Birmingham have known Amani for a number of years, with their two sons having visited the centre in 2013. Steve has a background in project management and now works for international NGOs, and Cathy is a former social worker, so we are sure they will make a fantastic addition to the team. 2018 Christmas Cards now on sale!
Every year, amateur artist and long-time Amani supporter Debbie Carmichael sells her original Christmas cards in aid of the Amani Centre for Street Children in Moshi, Tanzania. Inspired by her years living in Moshi, these beautiful designs will not only bring festive cheer to family and friends but also help raise funds and awareness for Amani's vital work with disadvantaged youths in northern Tanzania. Amani's Christmas Card Collection for 2017 is now on sale in the UK. Based on the paintings of UK artist and long-time Amani supporter Debbie Carmichael, all profits from the sale of the Christmas cards will go directly to funding some of Amani's most exciting programmes, transforming the lives of current and former street children and their communities throughout Tanzania. Getting into the Christmas Spirit
The Hauser family have been busy baking in the run up to christmas, having offered up their talents to raise funds for the Amani kids this festive season. Getting in touch with their German roots, Susanne, Janika and their little helpers managed to produce a whopping 26kg of traditional German christmas biscuits including old favourites like lebkuchen and cinnamon stars, as well as the more curiously named "rauwuzel" (a rum, chocolate and coconut concoction) among others.
